General Summary: The Special Events Volunteer will assist with special events his or her USO center hosts within the center or at another location, which can include military homecomings, trainings or deployments, holiday parties, races, booths at fairs and festivals, and much more.

• Sound sense of judgment and sensitivity to handle any controversial or confidential situations
• Enthusiasm to work as a team
• Must be punctual, organized and self-motivated, with the ability to quickly and easily adapt to changing needs of USO Operations.
• Ability to obtain and maintain proper credentials necessary to access USO Center locations and facilities including but not limited to security, credit and/or background screening.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods of time
Volunteer Duties
• Be a welcoming, friendly face to our military and their families
• Monitor and maintain food and supplies
• Tidy and clean before, during, and after the event which can include trash removal
• Answer questions about the USO
• Practice safe food handling and storage practices
• May require standing in the sun, heat, or rain
• Document hours volunteered in volunteers.uso.org
• Other duties as assigned
Level of Authority: Work is planned, delegated, supervised and monitored by center staff. Volunteers are expected and encouraged to take on appropriate levels of responsibility within the boundaries of USO policies, procedures, organizational values and standards of conduct. Volunteers are prohibited from exercising their decision-making authority outside of these procedures and policies.
